The Science and the Mystery

My journey

For nearly 30 years, I have worked as an NHS Physiotherapist, journeying alongside people of all ages through the complexities of pain, trauma and recovery. While my clinical background gave me a deep understanding of the physical body, I always felt a pull towards something deeper.  That true recovery and healing are about so much more than just the physical.

I have practised Yoga for over three decades, yet for a long time I felt like an outsider. In spaces that felt dogmatic or exclusive, I struggled with the feeling that I didn't have a "yoga body". I felt disconnected, as if my body/mind/spirit were  "wrong", a problem that needed fixing.

"I believe the nervous system doesn't need fixing-it needs listening to"

My path hasn't just been professional; it's been deeply personal. Navigating the beautiful challenges of motherhood and moving through my own experiences of trauma made me question my beliefs about what is is to be truly well and connected, fully human.

Through diving deep into Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda and Somatics, I finally found the missing pieces. These daily rituals and practices helped me connect to all aspects of what it is to be human: physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual.

Today, I continue to work part time in the NHS, which keeps me grounded in the realities of modern healthcare. My work is a bridge - weaving together ancient wisdom traditions and modern science; the evidence and the mystery. I am committed to being trauma-informed, inclusive and realistic.

When we stop working on our bodies and start living in them, true transformation begins.

Testimonials

Maria- Online Sessions

"I love Amanda's classes; she makes me feel calm, at ease and connected to my body. She explains, demonstrates, and helps achieve yoga positions in such a way that makes the challenging and the relaxing both really enjoyable and effective. My state of mind is much better after her class, I feel like a whole person"

Jayne and Paul-Private session

"As a complete novice to Yoga I am enjoying learning the poses and putting together some routines. I also enjoy trying different styles of meditation and chanting. Amanda's teaching style is relaxed and allows for discussion around related topics such as Chakras, energy and breathwork. The use of Props and adaptations to suit personal capacity is really useful and not something I have experienced in other Yoga classes. I don't feel i need to "look the part" or be able to do the postures perfectly"
